Bought this strip to add above a reef tank, as a cheap way to enhance coral "pop". Seems hard to beat the brightness of this strip, with 600 of the 5054 LEDs packed into 5 meters. Just make sure you wire it up efficiently and with sufficient power. Ultimately I went with four strips 4ft long each, mounted to 1/8" flat aluminum bar. Using a 4A power supply, before cutting the strip into 4ft lengths, there was substantial dimming from one end to the other. Now, with the strip separated in 4 x 4ft lengths, and each receiving their own power lead, there is no noticeable dimming and these are very bright. The 4A is not strong enough, however, so I have ordered an 8A replacement to be safe.. The color temperature is definitely blue but has a bit of violet hue.Update 6/19/19: After hooking these up to an 8A power supply, these strips really shine. I uploaded a few more pictures to show how I have them set up (all pics with only the LED strips on). The second picture (less blue) was taken using orange glasses over the camera lens (blue filtered). The terminal points are very small, but I managed to solder the lead wires after some trial and error. Happy with this DIY project, and definitely saved me money. Note that these are not adequate to grow coral, these are just supplementing my T5 fixture.
